Quiet at the Aquarium: Supporting Autism Acceptance Week

Here at Blue Planet Aquarium, we’re committed to being a welcoming space for everyone — and that includes ensuring our environment is inclusive and accessible for all.

This year, we’re proud to be part of the BIAZA World Autism Acceptance Campaign with Quiet at the Aquarium.

Monday, March 31st – Friday, April 4th, 10am – 12pm daily, we’ll be making the aquarium a calmer, more sensory-friendly space for the neurodivergent community by:

🔇 Turning off background music

🔌 Switching off machines

🎤 Not using microphones

Instead of our usual talks, you can enjoy peaceful live feeds in our Northern Streams exhibit and Aquatheatre, with friendly staff nearby to answer any questions.

🎒 Plus, we’re offering sensory bags for just £5 — including a sensory map, 4 sensory toys, and helpful emotion cue stickers to support communication throughout your visit.

Guests who require support may be entitled to a free carer ticket upon proof of eligibility. Accepted forms include; DLA or PIP letter, Blue Badge, letter from GP or Consultant, or a current and valid Access Card displaying the ‘+1 essential companion’ symbol. A maximum of one free of charge carer will be admitted per eligible paying guest. Additional carers require a valid ticket.
